Apple tree

Question: apple tree

Good morning, I was given a small shoot of an apple tree a couple of years ago, we planted it in the middle of the garden in a sunny place but it has grown very little, we thought in a couple of years that we already had a small tree but it barely reaches one meter in height, is this normal or are there some precautions to have a faster growth? Thank you.

Apple tree: Answer: apple tree

Dear visitor, thank you for choosing us and for asking this interesting question. The apple tree, a fruit plant of ancient origins originally from the Transcaucasian region, is widespread throughout the world and cultivated in many areas of Italy. The subspecies that has been most used to obtain fruit apple trees is Malus communis pumilia and all fruit varieties have been obtained from it.

The apple tree is a plant that prefers humid and cool climates and for this reason it is grown mainly in northern Italy.

To allow the apple tree to grow correctly, we recommend annual fertilizations to be carried out possibly with organic fertilizer or mature manure. Furthermore, chemical fertilizers can also be given to the plant to supplement the losses of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and microelements. In spring it is advisable to provide the plant with higher percentages of nitrogen and phosphorus to cope with the rapid aerial and radical development of the plant, while in summer and autumn it is necessary to increase the potassium and microelements, strictly correlated with the fruiting of the plant.
