The year of Saturn - the year of trials, part 1

How we overcame natural surprises last season

We, gardeners, cannot do without surprises for a single season. Every year there may be some unusual natural manifestations to which one needs to adapt, look for solutions to emerging problems. But the past season, perhaps, surpassed all the previous ones.

Your grapes are tastier

For example, many have already learned

grow grapes

and pick berries in buckets, and sweet, fragrant. But this summer there was a shortage of harvest, and the quality of the berries is not the same.

I have grapes, I will immediately note that I do not consider myself a winegrower, grew up, turned out sweet, tasty as always, but the berries turned out to be one third less than usual. True, it grew on our site in the open ground, near the wall of the house. They did not cover it with anything, during the flowering hail passed, there were not even rains, but showers. The past year was the year of Saturn, and it is unfavorable for grapes, therefore I did not think that at least something would ripen. But we received a little berries, but by the end of the season the vines did not fully ripen by the end of the season, we had to do a shorter pruning in lignified areas.

The 2015 season will pass under the sign of Jupiter - this is a fertile year, the season will be quieter, so we will definitely have grapes on the street, contrary to the assertions of some scientists that in our climate it is not worth growing it outdoors. We do not have industrial plantations, we will not harvest tons of crops, but in order to eat in the fall, there will be berries. True, at the harvest festival in the Suzdalsky Palace of Culture at the end of October, this time none of the gardeners presented grapes for the competition, but in the photo in the gardeners' albums it amazes the imagination. Many are already growing this southern crop and getting their own grapes. Isn't it joy!

Onion year

Last season I made interesting observations and

... In 2013, I got it mostly of medium size - there were no large and very large bulbs. I think this is due to the fact that there was no rain. True, the neighbors in the plots around ours watered the onions (I usually do not do this), and their onions also turned out to be medium in size.

In the past year, I did not change anything either in the agricultural technology of the onion, or in the choice of soil and planting site. As a result, the onion of the Stuttgarter Riesen variety from the purchased set turned out to be very large, there were even huge onions. And for everyone in our gardening, the onion crop was striking in size.

In the spring, I sowed nigella (onion seeds) to get seed. By the time of the collection of the onion sets, it turned out that there were only a few specimens measuring 1.5-2 cm, and mostly the bulbs had grown to 4-5 cm in diameter. Here is the result of the past year. And I'm not alone. On a holiday in the recreation center "Suzdalsky" a member of the club "Usadebka" L.N. Golubkova brought the bulbs of the Exhibichen variety planted before winter as competitive exhibits. She got impressive results. I weighed two of her onions - they pulled 600 grams! For comparison, my two largest bulbs of the Stuttgarter Riesen variety weighed 300 grams.

Riddles of carrots and radishes

I received interesting conclusions based on the results of cultivation in the past season.

... I did everything in the garden in the same way as in the 2013 season - the area is the same, the soil, varieties and agricultural technology are the same, and the yield was less by a third, and the type of root crops was not as attractive as in the previous year. I made a conclusion: although carrots are considered a cold-resistant crop, I think they are still better in the warmth. These were the conditions for her in 2013.

In fact, I had enough carrots from this harvest for all the preparations for the winter, and in the country from July to October I used them for cooking. And I brought a 12-liter bucket of root crops to the apartment for the winter. As they say, it is a sin to be offended, but in 2013, the carrots were somehow special. Sowed my favorite varieties: Nantes improved, Losinoostrovskaya, hybrid News F1. Last season did not sow the Yaya F1 hybrid. And, I think, I did the right thing - taking into account the cold May and June on our land, he would not have shown himself.

, of course, I raised, but with difficulty. In the magazine "Flora Price" No. 3 for 2013, I talked about the difficulties in growing this crop. The most important of them - the radish goes to the arrow. Various reasons for this phenomenon are named. But in 2014, none of them fit. Both the sowing time and the weather, it would seem, did not give a reason for shooting. She defended the plants from the pests, but the time came - and the radish still began to shoot. Used for sowing the seeds that remained after the 2013 season. There were three packages, all different, I bought in different stores, but the manufacturer was the same - SeDeK. So, the reason for this is still in the seeds.

Leek Elephant failed

For leeks, the picture turned out to be about the same as with carrots. The harvest seems to be good, but alas, it is not the same as in 2013. I bought the Elephant variety (elephant), but it did not work out of these Elephant seeds. About 15-17 years ago, when this variety first appeared with us, it was just a miracle, although we still did not know how to grow leeks. In 2013, I grew Gulliver leek. By the end of summer, there was just a dense forest on the garden bed of powerful, tall plants. The bleached part of the trunks was thick and long.

And last season, the plants of the Elephant variety looked wretched, the bleached part turned out to be skinny with green. Only a few specimens still showed that this is the Elephant variety. The ridge in the spring was abundantly filled with organic matter, there were top dressing, the rains passed. It would seem that what else is needed - to grow, gain power. But it didn't work out that way. I think the reason for the lag was the past showers, hail, cold weather, when he was just taking root. But the weather was like this not one or two days, but almost twenty days.

Which is the best greenhouse?

Last season, I mastered a new

polycarbonate greenhouse

... The old one - a very comfortable home-made glass, alas, worn out so that it was necessary to disassemble. The area of the new greenhouse is half the size of the previous one, it was difficult for me to work in it - I got used to the scope and freedom inside. True, I spent half the time on the formation of plants, on watering.

For 26 years I have become accustomed to a greenhouse made of wood - there is glass around the entire perimeter, and the roof is made of film

... The roof of the very first greenhouse was covered with a conventional plastic film, which had to be changed every year. It was hard to work under it, on a sunny day it was better not to go there because of the stuffiness. Therefore, I worked there early in the morning and late in the evening. Then this film was replaced by Stabilen®. This was a noticeable progress, we gardeners immediately felt relief. This film serves for many years, you do not need to remove it for the winter, you just need to throw snow from the roof. Once our upper crossbar could not withstand the snow load and broke. The snow was 30 cm thick, but the film did not burst, it could withstand such a load.

Working under Stabilen® was easy and did not feel oppressive. And we kindly remember the author of this film - Ilya Nikolaevich Kotovich. He, a doctor of sciences, did not consider it shameful to communicate with us, gardeners. I came to gardening clubs, explained how plants and people feel under films. In addition to the film, he left behind several brochures, in which there were explanations about how plants feel at different temperatures, what temperature is in the greenhouse at different times of the day. It was necessary to know this in order not to be afraid that the plants are not pollinated.

I don't know anything about polycarbonate in greenhouses. Alas, there is still nothing but advertising for polycarbonate greenhouses. And nowhere to read. What kind of "eternal" material it is, how it affects plants, how many years its transparency will last, the purity of this material - I don't know, but the gardeners are asking. At their request, I measured the temperature in the greenhouse from May 19 to July 11 - every day at 7 and 8 o'clock in the morning, looked at the thermometer on the street and the thermometer on the ground in the greenhouse. Basically, the difference was 5 degrees, i.e. if outside in the morning + 15 ° С, then in the greenhouse it was + 20 ° С. When it is + 11 ° С outside, then in the greenhouse it is + 15 ° С if it rained at night, and + 16 ° С if there was no rain. There were days when the difference was only two degrees. This happened when it rained for days, the water in the soil rose so that watering was not required in the greenhouse for weeks, the soil cooled, and the temperature was lower than in clear weather.

Frost during the observation period was noted only twice. Once it was -1 ° C, and another time -3 ° C, but at this time the plants in the greenhouse were still small, and I additionally covered them with lutrasil. I made a conclusion for myself: the temperature difference early in the morning in the greenhouse under the Stabilen® film was two degrees, and in the polycarbonate greenhouse, where the ridge was without biofuel - five degrees. If the ridge in such a greenhouse is filled with biofuel (hay, horse manure, straw), as I have done all the years before, then the temperature difference will be another 1-2 degrees higher. There was no drip in my greenhouse, because at my request, the manufacturers made a window in the new greenhouse near the ridge itself (see the photo of the greenhouse).

Apricot delight planting and care

"Data-src = https: // width = 250 height = 185> Description of the Apricot variety" Delight "is known today to many domestic amateur gardeners. The variety is quite popular due to its large number of advantages and has earned numerous positive reviews in most regions of our country. Among northern and winter-hardy apricots, this variety is currently one of the best and most promising.

Diseases and pests

Apricot Rapture is characterized by resistance to many diseases. With improper placement or insufficient care, the following pathologies may develop:

  1. Scab. The disease affects the foliage and fruits of the Apricot Rapture. It appears with brown spots. Spraying with fungicides is used to eliminate the disease.
  2. Cytosporosis leads to wilting of leaf plates and drying of branches. Damaged shoots should be cut off, capturing 1–2 cm of healthy tissue.
  3. Curliness of leaf plates. The disease leads to crop loss. It is manifested by the deformation of the foliage and the appearance of swelling on it. For treatment, copper-containing drugs are used.

Of the pests, the danger to Apricot Delight is represented by leaf rollers and aphids. For insect control, insecticides are used.

The full Saturn cycle lasts 28-29 years. But the exacerbation of the Saturnian crisis occurs every 7.5 years, when the planet squares or opposes its natal position. It is believed that by the age of 29, all subtle bodies are completed in a person. It is at this time (28-30 years old) that one has to pass the first life exam for adulthood and independence.

The next return of Saturn occurs at 58-60 years old. And some people are also 88-90 years old.

The transits of Saturn are the most difficult and protracted, and therefore will be remembered for a lifetime. We can say that it is a test, an exam on how we lived through the first cycle and what we managed to achieve. In general, this transit occurs twice or thrice during life, depending on its duration.

The Saturn Cycle - A Period of Evolutionary Growth... It is important for Saturn that we develop, so he will create such a situation for us and such a state in which we will have to grow and pull ourselves up if we have not worked on ourselves enough before. He will mercilessly point us to our weaknesses and make us work on them. But he will also reward and encourage us in the areas we have worked hard on.

Saturn brings us into adulthood. Therefore, during this period, events may occur for which a person is simply not ready, and he is forced to grow up, rethink something, urgently change in order to somehow get out of an unusual situation.

For example, if a person under 30 was dependent on his parents, did not provide himself financially, Saturn may put him in such a situation that his parents will no longer be able to take care of him, and he will have to learn to do it on his own. New obligations appear, which were simply not there in his life before.

Another example is positive. A person left the parental home early, learned to earn money on his own, was independent - then during this period he can receive a reward or a promotion. The situation is in his favor and he gets bonuses.
There are many examples, and they all have their own.

Whatever happens during this period, the most important changes always take place inside... When this transit ends (about 30-31 years), the person is completely renewed and rethinks his life. Saturn is the planet of lessons, so it is important for him that we learn from the events of some kind of experience.

On the inner plane, the return is played out as intense stress, a period of loneliness, concentration on oneself, depression, loss of faith in oneself, apathy. Health may deteriorate, a person may feel a loss of vitality and energy.

Saturn cuts off elections - narrows the range of options. You may feel that if before that you had more freedom to do something, now life focuses on some areas, more imperatively indicates the direction of your life. You are now more responsible for all the choices you make.

The good news is that after the conjunction of Saturn with your natal position occurs, you are cleared of everything unnecessary, including many fears, complexes, prohibitions, restrictions. Internal complexes and personal problems will no longer interfere with you on the way, which means that it will become easier to show your will and carry out your plans. Transit gives rise to new life and new opportunities .

Until his return, Saturn tends to create delays on the theme of the house in which he is in your natal chart. For example, if Saturn is in your chart in the 10th house, you might feel that until the age of 30 nothing went well with your career, but after his return, things in this area began to improve significantly. It became easier to carry out many projects. The same for other houses. For the same reason, it is easier for some women to marry after the age of 30.

(How to soften the transits of Saturn)

In the first part, we talked about the return of Saturn and how this period affects us and our lives. Today we will talk about how you can mitigate the impact of this transit and survive it with minimal losses.

The information below also applies to negative transits of Saturn with other natal planets.

Saturn transits are not easy. Often there are events that greatly change a person's life, and they can only be accepted. but forewarned is forearmed. Sometimes the very realization that a difficult and responsible period has begun in your life gives strength and faith in yourself.

If we feel that everything has gone wrong, work does not bring results, the whole world seems to be opposing us, everything is crumbling around - do not rush to panic.
During these periods, it is important to continue to work with clenched teeth.... Do not blame yourself if the result is not yet visible. Saturn requires patience, responsibility, perseverance.

At this time, it is important to be proactive - to do more than what is required to show your best side to Saturn. If there is an opportunity to help someone - help... Any help, any good deed during this period is of great importance and adds a plus sign to your karma.

Saturn is the planet of duty, he loves it when we do our duty... Whether it's responsibilities to the family (for example, to pay attention to loved ones), parents (to visit them, help in something), people, animals, hometown (any form of volunteering), etc.

In this period save well, be content with little - this applies to everything - money, feelings, etc. Saturn loves restrictions, but we do not need to wait until he creates them for us, it is better to limit ourselves for a while.

Think more, analyze situations. Saturn lowers our energy so that we do not rush headlong, but think over our actions and their consequences. If we go in the wrong direction, Saturn can even create a disease for us - so that a person stops and thinks about the correctness of his actions.

If there are problems in any area, you need to pay special attention to it. For example, if there are problems at work - pay attention to how we work. Write everything down, do everything on time, do not resist, do not postpone.

What else can you do to soften the transits of Saturn:

- plan, write a daily routine and try to fulfill it
- go on a diet, fasting is also a form of self-restraint
- force yourself, not to be lazy, to show firmness of character
- communicate with older people, senior citizens, senior citizens
- repair, construction - it's good if you do it yourself
- take work seriously
- observe order and discipline in everything
- work with stones, bone, minerals
- do yoga, do gymnastics for the spine
- you can go to the cemetery - it draws out negative Saturnian energy well
- spending time in solitude.

The main thing to remember is that all this is temporary, no period lasts forever and soon your life will change for the better. And under no circumstances should you lose heart. This period contributes to your development and advancement.
