I have been reading the magazine "Flora Price" for a long time, I always get acquainted with interest with the experience of other gardeners, I try to transfer it to my beds. And now I decided to share my experience growing carrots... Frankly, at one time I even wanted to abandon it, this culture is very laborious. And she needs loose soil, without clods, and her small seeds from drying out of the soil sprout badly and for a long time.
And when they sprout, you are tortured to weed with a magnifying glass, choosing tender shoots of carrots among the many weeds. However, on reflection, I decided to translate all the minuses into pluses. Now I loosen the soil in the garden with the help of a Fokin flat cutter. This is a matter of a minute, cannot be compared with digging. And those gardeners who want to repeat my experience, but do not believe in the new, let them dig up their garden, as they are used to.
And now about my method. I mark the prepared soil in the garden with a board into rows. It is advisable to practice here so that the desired depth is obtained. The seeds are laid on a flat surface. Here they are, my two pluses.
Sprinkle with the same soil, too, using a flat cutter. That's all the preparation.
After two weeks or a little later, I check to see if seedlings have appeared. If they already exist, I remove all the newspapers from the garden. Even if the seedlings stay in the dark for 2-3 days, it's not scary, once they get into the light, they quickly turn green. I cover the garden with lutrasil again, the plants will be less affected by pests and grow better under such a shelter. The main thing here is that the weeds in the warmth under the newspapers arose much earlier than carrots, but in the dark, without the life-giving sun, they died, simultaneously giving food to the soil living creatures - earthworms and microorganisms.
And they, in turn, loosened the soil. It is also important that the ground under such a shelter does not dry out and does not need to be loosened. And if you try and sow carrot seeds less often, there are many ways here, for example, some gardeners mix seeds with coarse river sand, then there is no need to thin out the seedlings. Plus, I prefer crops mulch, and not to loosen, then you can water less often, even if the summer is hot. I also sprinkle ashes on carrot crops twice a season. That's my whole way. It remains only in the fall or selectively in the summer to harvest. He's always good with me now.
Of course, if a perennial weed suddenly emerges, it is better to pull it out right away, this is clear, although I almost do not have them after two years of natural farming. In the new season, in this way, I am going to grow not only carrots, but also parsley, dill, coriander. I want to appeal to all gardening readers: if you have your own experience of growing large yields of vegetables with minimal effort, share it with everyone. And I hope that my experience will help someone to take a fresh look at such a labor-intensive culture - carrots.

Experienced summer residents unanimously say: it is better to huddle carrots on cloudy days, when there is high humidity outside. If you cannot find such a time, it is enough to do hilling in the evening.
If you make it during the day and in hot weather, then the carrots will begin to give off a bright smell, which can provoke the appearance of a carrot fly.
This pest actively lays its larvae, which damages the root crop. It is worth hilling when the carrots have 5 to 7 leaves. It is better to huddle several times, covering the upper part tightly with earth.

For many years of summer experience, I have found for myself the most optimal way to grow onions and carrots.
On a bed prepared for planting, I sow carrot seeds in rows drawn across the bed. The distance between the rows is 15-20 cm. And I sow through the row. Then I plant onion sets in the skipped rows. This method of alternating carrots with onions is very beneficial for carrots, since its neighborhood protects carrots from many pests and protects against diseases. Moreover, the onion ripens earlier. Therefore, after harvesting it, the distance between the rows of carrots increases, it grows larger and juicier. My favorite and tried-and-true variety of carrots is Nantes. Onions also grow very well. Carrots do not interfere with its ripening, since during the period of intensive onion growth, the carrot tops are still small. When the tops are growing, the arrows begin to dry out and fall to the ground.
The cultivation of tomatoes without soil begins in the standard way, the seeds are processed using potassium permanganate, warmed up, hardened and soaked in water. It is recommended to take more seeds as not all can germinate.
Next, a plastic container is taken, dry napkins or toilet paper are laid out on its bottom, there should be about 5-7 layers. After laying out, the paper must be moistened with water, the main thing is not to overdo it. There should be no excess water in the container, if there is any, then it must be drained immediately.
Previously soaked seeds are spread on napkins with tweezers. It is important that there is a distance between the seeds, otherwise root plexus is possible.
After spreading the seeds, the container must be closed with a lid and moved to a warm place. The optimum temperature for germinating tomato seeds is about 25-27 degrees. Every day you need to open the container lid for a few minutes so that the seeds can "breathe", you also need to spray them with water. Somewhere in 3-5 days, the first shoots are formed.
After the formation of the first shoots, the container must be moved to the brightest place. During the day, you need to maintain the temperature in the range from 17 to 20 degrees, and at night the temperature should be 14-17 degrees. If the temperature is higher than this, then there is a risk that the seedlings will begin to grow rapidly upward. Therefore, do not be afraid to let coolness into the room where the containers with seeds are located. If possible, at night, you can illuminate the seedlings with lamps.
For greater confidence in the health of the plant, it can be fed with special liquid fertilizers. The seedlings are kept in containers until the first leaf appears, and after that they are transplanted into the ground.
It is better to transplant tomatoes in the late afternoon. Seedlings are carefully selected: the strongest bushes are planted in the ground, and the weakest ones are thrown away. In the seedlings selected for transplantation, you need to cut the root (if it branches) so that its length is at the level of the seedling height.
If tomatoes are grown in pots, then there must be a drainage hole. Watering plants should be done with warm water. At night, tomato pots should be covered with foil and placed in a dark and warm place. In the daytime, the film is removed, and the seedlings are moved to a bright room. Further, depending on the growth of the tomatoes, it is necessary to add soil to the pots.
In all other respects, growing tomatoes without land is no different from usual.
Save so as not to lose!
The process of preserving carrots has been repeatedly tested over the years is very simple and
reliable. There are practically no losses from rotting or drying out of the root crop. For
this you need to wash the carrots, cut off the top and bottom a little
fruit and dry thoroughly.
Then we distribute and put in plastic bags in portions of 8-10
It is better to take packages with thicker walls or 2 (one in the other).
We insert a tube into the bag and pump out the air with our mouth, as far as it is
After that, quickly twist the neck of the bag and pull out the tube.
Bend the neck twisted into a tourniquet in half and tighten it tight
twine. Thus, we prepare the rest. Store in a wooden
or a cardboard box at the bottom of the cellar in a dry place.
When determining the timing of harvesting, they are guided, first of all, by the carrot variety. Early ripening varieties are harvested in July. If you tighten up with harvesting, then the fruits will crack and lose their juiciness.
Attention! Early carrots are good for fresh consumption. It is unsuitable for long-term storage.
Medium ripening carrots ripen in 80-110 days. Overexposing it in the ground is also not worth it, it will badly affect the taste.
Late carrots will ripen for 110 days or more. The fruits continue to grow until the air temperature drops to + 4 ° С, but there is no need to wait for night frosts. A dry sunny day is chosen for cleaning.
Carrots are gently dug in with a pitchfork and pulled out of the soil by the tops. Root crops are cleaned from the ground, greens are twisted or cut off. After that, the carrots are air-dried for a couple of hours and stored.
